TheatreFest Workshop Information

THEATREFEST at the Houston Hyatt, Jan. 29-Feb. 1

CERTIFICATION FOR NON-CERTIFIED ADJUDICATORS: The schedule for the certification workshop at the TheatreFest has been finalized (please see schedule below). Participants should be eligible to judge in the 2015-16 season (Currently, adjudicators may not direct an official UIL entry at the high school or middle school level). All participants must complete an application and be pre-approved to attend. Applicants should hold a degree in Theatre or have had direct experience with the UIL One Act Play contest as a director or contest manager. Please email Travis Springfield at tspringf@houstonisd.org to receive an application and complete the online form by January 16th.

If approved, you will be notified of your acceptance. All participants in the TheatreFest certification workshop will be required to shadow at an official UIL contest in the spring One Act Play season to complete the certification process. Instructions regarding shadowing procedures will be shared during the workshop at TheatreFest. Upon completion of the workshop and the shadowing requirement, new judges must pay TTAO dues of $35 and complete the online contact information form to be added to the official TTAO Adjudicator list and be eligible to judge.

CURRENT ADJUDICATORS requiring recertification in 2015 may complete that process by participating on the Best Practices and Ethics Panels on Friday. Please email Travis if you wish to complete recertification at TheatreFest. Additional opportunities for recertification will occur at the remaining two certification workshops to be offered this year (6A Region 4 Area 2 contest in the Valley and UIL State in Austin).
